Upon opening this book, readers will be struck by the exciting and classy patterned endpapers: a pattern of racing black buffaloes against a teal background with a small white elephant standing out in one corner. Throughout the book, the illustrations maintain this upscale, arts-and-crafts look with their woodcut style and very limited palette: cream paper printed with black and periwinkle blue. The characters look lively and expressive, and the swooping text and varied page designs enhances the flow of the story. So we get another offering from the innovative Indian group Tara Publishing which will stand off the shelf. - www.writeaway.org.uk
