Alanna Books is a small independent publisher – the word Alanna is the Irish word for 'child' and is also used as an endearment - much as you would say 'sweetheart'. The name was chosen to emphasise the fact that Alanna has the needs of children at the centre of its publishing - the needs of all children.

Allen & Unwin is one of Australia's leading independent publishers and distributors, and has been voted "Publisher of the Year" by Australian Booksellers six times since 2000.
They commenced publishing in Australia in 1976 as part of the UK-based parent company of the same name. In 1990, following the purchase of the UK parent company by HarperCollins, Allen & Unwin's Australian directors effected a management buy-out and the company became fully independent, owning the Allen & Unwin imprint throughout the world. They have offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.
Allen & Unwin publish about 250 new titles each year, including a highly successful children's list.This consists of around 50 new children's titles each year across the entire range, from board and picture books through to crossover fiction and graphic novels for young adults.They also publish some non-fiction.
Allen & Unwin have a reputation for quality, with many award-winning authors and titles including Alison Lester and Anna Fienberg. Barn Owl Books was started in 2000 by the author Ann Jungman. Ann noticed that her own books were going out of print at a great rate and assumed it was just her. Gradually it became apparent that it was a very general trend and that good books were disappearing. The reasons were increased storage costs, a huge emphasis on the front list and the rapidly growing number of new books appearing. As a result many very important and valuable books were no longer available. With a small inheritence Ann decided to launch a list that was made up entirely of worthwhile books from the recent past.
Barn Owl now has a list of some eighty titles by authors such as Michael Rosen, Adele Geras, Jacqueline Wilson, Margaret Mahy, Robert O'Brian, Kay Umansky and Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore. Barn Owl selects titles on two criteria. Firstly, they search for the kind of book that will lure children into reading at that crucial time in their primary education. Books such as the Mortimer books illustrated by Quentin Blake and other clever, funny titles are guaranteed to seduce the most reluctant reader. Secondly, they publish longer, more thought-provoking titles for older readers ready to explore more thematic depths. Books such as The First of Midnight, about slavery, Some Other War, about World War 1, Johnnie’s Blitz, about World War 2 and Lynne Reid Banks two books about the Arab/Israeli conflict, One More River and Broken Bridge are some of their highlights.
All Barn Owls are redesigned, often with brand new covers. Barn Owl Books hopes they are returning the very best of past writing for the pleasure and enlightenment of modern children.

Boxer Books is a children’s book publisher based in Farringdon, London. They are known throughout the world for their unique approach to picture books for babies and young children. Quality of writing, illustration, design and production are paramount to their business.
Boxer Books launched their debut list of four titles in spring 2005. Since then, the company has grown rapidly and now publishes over 35 titles a year. In a short time, Boxer Books has achieved a strong international presence, publishing in the UK, USA and Canada.They have also enjoyed a great deal of success with international publishers. Inside Pocket is a new independent publisher which launched its first nine children's books in 2010, with a further slate of titles scheduled for release in 2011. Although they are new on the scene, Inside Pocket have already published critically-acclaimed, fun-packed stories by great new authors - some puzzling, some mysterious, and some beautifully illustrated by talented new artists.
Inside Pocket are not limited by genre or format, but they do have a soft spot for new writing. It is harder and harder for good new writing to find a market. Bricks and mortar shelf space is at an all-time premium. Publishers are becoming more and more cautious. The marketing spend to stand out from the crowd on-line is enormous. So why in the face of this, do they give special emphasis to new authors? Well, in a market that is becoming increasingly homogenised, they actually see publishing new authors as an opportunity!
Inside Pocket invest in far fewer books than the average publisher, but those books which are taken on all involve new writers or new illustrators (or both) and, above all, they are all exceptionally good reads. The Little Bookroom publishes travel guides that provide an imaginative entrée into the world’s best-loved cities. The books celebrate a sense of place: the authentic, the unique, the small, the historic, and the local. They appeal to those travellers who are interested in getting a real “feel” for a city, who are willing to meander a bit, to wander away from the well-known landmarks.
Some of the books focus on major destinations—Paris, New York, London—and encourage readers to go off the beaten path. Mogzilla was started in 2004 by author Robin Price in order to grow a list of original children’s books. A mere ‘minnow in the shark pool of publishing’, Mogzilla doesn’t ape the approach of the established publishers. Instead it concentrates on a select list of titles, building them over time and winning new readers from ‘live’ events at schools & libraries. Don’t be surprised if you come across Mogzilla in unlikely places like London’s Greenwich market or The Globe theatre.
Mogzilla’s first series was Robin’s own Spartapuss Tales – set in ancient Rome in a world ruled by cats. Robin started writing I Am Spartapuss late in 2004 - having previously written songs for a musical version of The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. This was a massive hit (because of Julia's brilliant book and Tall Stories fab production. It has toured the UK and it ended up on Broadway - opposite The Lion King!

Mogzilla has a history of working with new and established artistic talent. Our picture books include the work of illustrators Woodrow Phoenix on Count Milkula and Craig Conlan on Santa Claus is on a Diet. Newcomer Paul McGrory made his debut on the graphic novel London Deep. This was selected as a Recommended Read for World Book Day 2011 in the 9-12 category and was awarded 4 stars out of 5 by a nine year old reviewer on ITV1's Cool Stuff Collective.
Steampunk writer Alex Keller has also won plaudits for his innovative Haywired series.
Mogzilla is honoured to have been chosen to publish a series of picture books based on the iconic 70’s cartoon characters Roobarb & Custard. Five titles in this series are now available.

Mogzilla Life imprint was launched in September 2009 in order to publish a select range of original biographies, autobiographies, memoirs and non-fiction. Mogzilla Life will concentrate on true accounts with something to say and real life stories that speak to the reader. The first title on this imprint is Godfrey’s Ghost (2009) a biographical memoir about the actor and playwright Arnold Ridley – who famously portrayed Private Godfrey in Dad’s Army.

Natural History Museum Publishing, London is home to one of the world’s most important and comprehensive collections of natural history specimens, literature and artworks.
